There are many pagodas, monasteries and temples in Kyaing Tong as majority people living there are Buddhisms. Among these, here are some pagodas and temples which are well known and main places to visit in town. I'll be posting  the detail summary, location and more pictures of each place separately in next post.

Mahar Myat Mu Ni Pagoda is the most famous pagoda in Kyaing Tong which is located in Downtown. Most people believe that once you worship the face of the Mahar Myat Mu Ni Buddha statue, you will have a chance to come back as another visit Kyaing Tong wherever you move.

Hill Tribes Villages in Kyaing Tong

The Hill tribes villages are one of the tourist attractions and main places to visit in Kyaing Tong. The tribes include Akn, Akha and Lahu Shi tribes. When you visit there you can learn the history and many different cultures of different Hill tribes, can enjoy the opportunity of short and long treks at the altitude of 4000 feet above sea level and will have the opportunity to explore their villages.
The villages have their own cultures and religions such as Christians, Buddhism, Animism. Although only a short distance from Kyaing Tong, the people from villages in this region are untouched by time. They are still living in their own ancient cultures and living in their own groups which is totally different from urban life of the city Kyaing Tong.

A little taste of Kyaing Tong :)

This is a short video clip about Kyaing Tong by Thai media PBS channel. This will show a little overview about the city, its culture and appearance which is closer to the hill town of Northern Thailand and Southern China. Even though the city is in Myanmar (Burma), the vast majority of the town's residents belong to one of several Tai ethnic groups: Shan, Tai Lü, Tai Khün and Tai Nuea.

Overview about Kyaing Tong

First of all, thanks for visiting this blog! I decided to create this blog for Kyaing Tong which is my lovely hometown since I've already have a facebook page and I think it will be good to have a blog as well.

Kyaing Tong, the Second Biggest city in Shan State, the city of Golden Triangle, also known as Keng Tung or sometimes Chiang Tung, is one of the most attractive towns in Myanmar. In culture and appearance, it feels closer to the hill town of Northern Thailand and Southern China, and the vast majority of the town's residents belong to one of several Tai ethnic groups: Shan, Tai Lü, Tai Khün and Tai Nuea.

It is a nice place to visit in Myanmar(Burma) and is known for its scenic beauty and many colorful ethnic tribes, enjoy shopping Thai-made products with reasonable prices and variety of local famous food which are very delicious.

The weather is mostly chill almost like Winter but still pretty hot in Summer. The whole town is surrounded by many Mountains and looks green in every season.

There are many kinds of ethnic groups living in Kyaing Tong including Burmese and many villages of various ethnic tribes resided around Kyaing Tong. The tribes known as Gon, Lwe, Li, Wa, Lah Hu, Thai Nay, Shan, Li Shaw, Li Su, Palaung, Akha, and we can only differentiate the tribes by colourful dresses which is different to one another.

In Kyaing Tong, most of the people do the living with firming and trading to and from Thailand and China and some work in Government organizations and Non-government organizations.

They grow many firms including normal rice, sticky rice and many kinds of vegetables and fruits. Since the weather is always cold, there are many fruits and vegetables available almost all the time with very reasonable prices such as Apples, Oranges, Watermelon, Pineapples, Wild Apples, Pears, Peach and much more.

This is the overall view of the town in which the beautiful lake as you can see in the picture is located in around the center of the town called Naung Tong Lake.
